13-03-09: Snellere signalering van recessies helpt gevolgen te beperken
I published an article on the website Economie Opinie on the detection of the current Dutch recession. The article got reprinted in a book about Economie Opinie.

29-01-09: I succesfully defended my PhD Thesis entitled 'Advances in Monitoring the Economy'. It is available for download here.

08-08-08: The paper 'Bayesian Near-Boundary Analysis in Basic Macroeconomic Time Series Models', jointly written with Michiel de Pooter, Francesco Ravazzolo and Herman van Dijk has been accepted for publication in Advances in Econometrics, Volume 23, Bayesian Econometrics, edited by Siddhartha Chib, Gary Koop and Bill Griffiths.

11-05-06: The paper 'Do the Leading Indicators Lead Peaks More Than Troughs?' has been accepted for presentation at the EEA-ESEM 2006 conference in Vienna.

30-03-06: 'Wie wint het WK?'
On March 30, I co-organized a full day of activities for secondary school pupils in association with the Econometric Student Society. At this event 30 teams of pupils forecasted which national footbal team will win the world tournament in Germany this summer, during a simulation game. The winning teams will compete against each other during the tournament itself for €2000,- worth of travel cheques.

21-03-06: The paper 'Gibbs sampling in econometric practice?', jointly written with Michiel de Pooter and Herman van Dijk is available as Econometric Institute Report 2006-13, and has been submitted for publication.

25-08-05: Econometric Society World Congres 2005, London.

01-07-05: In 2006, the Econometric Institute will celebrate its 50th Anniversary. A website has been launched at http://www.ei50.org to promote the Institute's special celebration activities.

09-07-04: The paper 'Learning the Shape of the Likelihood of Typical Econometric Models using Gibbs Sampling', jointly written with Michiel de Pooter and Herman van Dijk, has been presented by Michiel on the 10th International Conference on Computing in Economics and Finance, July 8-10, 2004, University of Amsterdam.

23-06-04: Erasmus University Rotterdam hosts the INFORMS Marketing Science Conference from June 23-27, 2004.

17-05-04: Official start of my PhD-project entitled 'Analyzing Panels of Time Series' at the Tinbergen Institute and Econometric Institute under supervision of Philip Hans Franses.

13-05-04: Today I submitted my Master's thesis entitled 'Modelling Long-run Economic Growth in Industrialized Nations: Exploiting Cross-Country Similarities'.
