1. The Stimuli

A full description of the experiment is provided by the paper. This page contains a brief description of the stimuli and the raw data of the choices. There are nine so-called "sets." Each set consists of four gamble pairs. Hence, there are 36 gamble pairs in total. Subjects chose their preferred gamble from each gamble pair. The following tables (adapted from Tables 3-5 from the paper) describe the stimuli in detail.

2. The Data

The data were presented under four different conditions, each with 15 subjects:
  1. Condition Matrix
  2. Condition Verbal-Collapsed
  3. Condition Verbal
  4. Condition Graphic
The data are coded by 0 and 1. A 0 means a safe choice, a 1 indicates a risky choice. The following four matrices (one for each condition) give the individual data. In the matrices, each row gives the scores of a subject. Each column 1 corresponds with the first gamble pair of set A, ..., column 4 corresponds with the fourth gamble pair of set A, ...., column 33 corresponds with the first gamble pair of set I, ..., column 36 corresponds with the fourth gamble pair of set I.
