ABSTRACT
Our goal was to analyse the items of francophone questionnaires on the quality of work life. We have developed the following method to reach this goal: 1) creating a matrix to distinguish between several qualities of work life, 2) sorting each item of each questionnaire using this matrix and justifying our decisions. Our content analysis allowed us to clarify the content of each questionnaire and to demonstrate that there may be differences between what is said about a questionnaire and what its items reveal. Our method can also be used to improve the facial validity of items when designing new questionnaires on the quality of work life.
