Happiness in organizations: A review of the few things we know

There are many theoretical claims about happiness in organizations, but little empirical research. In spite of much research on the relation between organi­zation and job-satisfaction, there is surprisingly little research on the relation between organization and life-satisfaction. In this article the author considers first what we would want to know about organization and happiness. Next the author takes stock of the few empirical answers to these questions, using the research findings available in the World Database of Happiness. Some reasons for the lack of empirical research on this topic are considered. The article closes with an agenda for future research.
